If they are educated on what they are supposed to know, whose duty is it to ensure that they get what they really deserve. Leaders in our societies should wake up.

From my opinion in creating a better environment for the less privilege, the first step is to educate them on what is theirs and that which is not.because some don't know what to really fight for.contribute your own quota for better advise.

What is AIDS OR HIV?

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans in which the immune system begins to fail, leading to life-threatening opportunistic infections.

What are the early symptoms of HIV infection?

Many people do not develop any symptoms when they first become infected with HIV. Some people, however, get a flu-like illness within three to six weeks after exposure to the virus. This illness, called Acute HIV Syndrome, may include fever, headache, tiredness, nausea, diarrhoea and enlarged lymph nodes (organs of the immune system that can be felt in the neck, armpits and groin). These symptoms usually disappear within a week to a month and are often mistaken for another viral infection.

During this period, the quantity of the virus in the body will be high and it spreads to different parts, particularly the lymphoid tissue. At this stage, the infected person is more likely to pass on the infection to others.

More persistent or severe symptoms may not surface for several years, even a decade or more, after HIV first enters the body in adults, or within two years in children born with the virus. This period of "asymptomatic" infection varies from individual to individual. Some people may begin to have symptoms as soon as a few months, while others may be symptom-free for more than 10 years. However, during the "asymptomatic" period, the virus will be actively multiplying, infecting, and killing cells of the immune system.

Climate Talks!

Dear Friends,

Something big happened on Wednesday, November 3 at the United Nations climate talks in Barcelona. A delegate from the Gambia, speaking on behalf of all African countries, signified that Africa will not negotiate until rich countries make commitments on carbon emissions targets.

Africa staged a small revolution, and it was all because of you. Typically, delegates from small countries don't speak up forcefully, even if they disagree with what's being said. This time, they knew that… Continue

The Unheard voices

It is not the big dramatic things that press me to write about this in the middle of the night but just trying to make sense of it. It is like a reflection of twisted feelings or some kind of guilt. What could I have done? It is probably the ghastly wind and welled up skies that made me feel a tingly feeling like something was going to happen that day. Walking down the Tom Mboya backstreet I suddenly found myself between them. The still gazing crowd and a drama of city council officers dragging… Continue

Obama: Prosperity is in Africa's future

ACCRA, Ghana -- President Barack Obama is promising to make sure that U.S. aid to Africa gets to the people who need it most, such as farmers and entrepreneurs, and not Western consultants and administrators.

In a speech Saturday in Ghana, Obama said that is why $3.5 billion in food assistance will focus on new methods and technologies for farmers, instead of simply sending U.S. goods to Africa.

The American president, making his first visit to sub-Saharan Africa, says wealthy countries like the U.S. have a lot to gain by opening their doors to more goods and services from Africa.

He says that will help reduce poverty and create wealth on the continent, while creating new markets and demand for American goods.

PITY THE NATION

Pity the nation whose people are sheep, and whose shepherds mislead them.

Pity the nation whose leaders are liars, whose sages are silenced, and whose bigots haunt the airwaves.

Pity the nation that raises not its voice, except to praise conquerors and acclaim the bully as hero and aims to rule the world with force and by torture.

Pity the nation that knows no other language b
